PDF Card Printing Instructions
The Greeting Cards on Samplewords.com are designed using vector graphics and come in PDF format. We highly recommend using the latest version of Adobe Acrobat or Adobe Acrobat Reader.
PDF files with vector graphics allow the user to resize the document proportionally without losing image quality as you would with a rasterized image such as a jpeg photo. Often times you can even resize slightly out of proportion, but you don't want to resize the tall rectangular image into a wider landscape dimension or the image will certainly distort. Most of the cards can take a little tweaking and still fit within the parameters of a tall rectangular space.

General 1 Page 1 Sided Printing
When it comes to providing printing instructions, it is impossible to provide step by step directions for setting up your printer. All printers are different. However, most printers will provide options for paper size and include various print quality settings. Most printers allow you to choose the common 1 page card sizes such as 4x6, 5x7 and 8x10.
When you open up the print dialog box in Adobe Acrobat or Adobe Acrobat Reader you will see an option for "Properties" that should allow you to access specific settings for your printer.
Once you determine your printer's specific option and size of paper, we would recommend selecting "shrink to printable area." This can be found in the Page Handling section in the Page Scaling selection. To be safe, you may want to select Auto Rotate and Center, but this shouldn't always be necessary.
Printing the Card as a Booklet that Opens
Another option is to print the PDF just like a standard greeting card you would find in store. You can select your printer options just the same, but under Page Handling section in the Page Scaling drop down menu, you can select "Booklet Printing." Please note that this option is only available in Adobe Acrobat 8.0 and higher.
As you can see in the "print preview: composite," the image will rotate to the edge of the paper and print exactly half the image, which allows you to fold the paper into a card. This turns out to print a perfectly sized card on 8x10 or 8.5 x 11 inch paper.
You can order foldable greeting card stock in the greeting card section of our eStore
And don't forget, it is always a good idea to perform a test print with low quality paper and low quality print.
